Industry:Software
The colour signal TV standard set by the National Television Standards Committee of the USA.
Industry:Software
An electronic circuit that breaks down the composite NTSC video signal into its components.
Industry:Software
A colour television format having 525 scan lines (rows) of resolution at 30 frames per second (30 Hz). See NTSC. Compare PAL Format.
Industry:Software
Improved or Increased; also the in-phase component of the NTSC colour subcarrier, authorised to have more than twice as much horizontal resolution as the Q, or quadrature component. Few TV sets have ever taken advantage of this increased chroma resolution, though there is renewed interest.
Industry:Software
An NTSC test signal used to cheque television broadcast equipment.
It consists of an I signal followed by a white bar, then a Q signal and a black level on each line.
Industry:Software
I/O devices that are accessed by using instructions and control signals that differ from those of the memory devices in a system.
Assigns I/O devices to a separate address space.
Industry:Software
A low-cost digital interface organised by Apple Computer as a desktop LAN and developed by the IEEE P1394 Working Group. Can transport data at 100, 200, or 400 Mbps. Serial bus management provides overall configuration control of the serial bus in the form of optimising arbitration timing, guarantee of adequate electrical power for all devices on the bus, assignment of which IEEE P1394 device is the cycle master, assignment of isochronous channel ID, and notification of errors.
There are two types of IEEE P1394 data transfer: asynchronous and isochronous. Asynchronous transport is the traditional computer memorymapped, load and store interface. Data requests are sent to a specific address and an acknowledgment is returned. In addition to an architecture that scales with silicon technology, IEEE P1394 features a unique isochronous data channel interface. Isochronous data channels provide guaranteed data transport at a pre-determined rate. This is especially important for time-critical multimedia data where just-in-time delivery eliminates the need for costly buffering.
