The jib is a triangular head-sail set on a stay, forward of the foremast. It is used to change direction with the wind.

Referring to the the direction away from the wind; The direction from which the wind blows; down wind.

Refers to the right-hand side of a boat (when looking toward the bow). Starboard is the opposite of port-side.
