Home > Blossary: Distrain
Distrain immobile as property of someone, object of mortgage in bank for non paid due debt. For ex. if a debtor of bank does not pay to bank up to three subsequent installments of loan, despite being notified by bank, after second unpaid installment, his/her house is distrained by bank, thus taken by bank, within legal process of documents signed by both parties upon getting loan (legally) through process of Enforcement. We also say 'distrain of salary' of someone paid to his bank account, if such law applies, for payment of debts to Tax Collection Office for ex. or payment of bank installments for ex. of credit card, if there is no other object of mortgage in this case.
