The tenrec is a mammal of the family Tenrecidae, found on Madagascar and in parts of the African mainland. Tenrecs are widely diverse; as a result of convergent evolution, they resemble hedgehogs, shrews, opossums, mice and even otters.
El tenrec es un mamífero de la familia Tenrecidae, encontrado en Madagascar y en partes del continente africano. Tenrecs son ampliamente diversos; como resultado de evolución convergente, se asemejan a erizos, musarañas, zarigüeyas, ratones y hasta nutrias.
The endangered dugong is the only southern African sea cow. This ancient order (Sirenia) is distantly related to elephants and also includes the West African and tropical American manatees. Dugongs are slow-moving, entirely aquatic creatures of sheltered tropical waters, where they graze seagrass beds with the rising tide.
El dugong en peligro de extinción es la vaca marina africana del Sur solamente. Esta antigua orden (Sirenia) distante se relaciona con los elefantes y también incluye los manatíes de América tropicales y África occidental. Dugongos son criaturas lentas, enteramente acuáticas protegidas aguas tropicales, donde pastan en praderas de fanerógamas marinas con la marea.
