A ring that attaches to the end of the lens.

The surface on which the lens is mounted. The distance between the mounting flange and the focal plane is the flange back distance (FBD).

In cameras with interchangeable lenses, the part of the camera to which the lens attaches.

A device that shades the lens, preventing flaring and ghosting and improving contrast. Hoods also protect the lens from physical shocks.
