trigger

A lever which connects the index (in most cases) with the trigger shear, usually shaped in a wide-radius convex curve in an otherwise flat piece of material. Older triggers have a tendency to be aggressively chamfered and also a lot thinner than modern ones. The material the trigger is made from is usually a hard wearing steel alloy, although in the last 15 years the number of polymer and composite triggers hav increased. This is both to reduce weight and cost, and can lead to the incorporation of gadgetry such as Glock's 'trigger safety' feature. However, due to its questionable reliability the mainstay of trigger parts are still metal.
