Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal or prog-metal) is a sub-genre of both progressive rock and heavy metal. The music is characterized by complexity, frequent tempo and signature changes, elaborate solos and very often longer songs than in other types of metal and popular music. Lyrics mostly tend to deal with complex and more serious topics.
