Originally the Tanarukks were orcs whose blood was mixed with demonic blood, normally a tanar'ri demon. However, after centuries of living on the Material Plane, the Tanarukk have bred and become a distinguished race altogether. They resemble short, stocky orcs with bristly hair, horns, or ridges along the sides of their heads accompanied by the distinctive smell of brimstone about them and they boasted a limited ability to manipulate fire. Though not remarkably intelligent they are formidable fighters and are often found acting as muscle for cambions and other fiendish creatures, or leading small raiding bands of orcs, especially those who frequently associate with demonic entities.
