He born on August 17th, 1932 (Caracas, Venezuela)

It is considered the most representative of the Venezuelan “Kinetic art”. From small felt penchant for color and visual arts. As a child he heard of literature, art, music and theater. His father was a poet and his mother accompanied him on his reading. But drawing and a big box of crayons became his favorite activity through the years. He studied at the School of Fine and Applied Arts of Caracas, culminating studies in 1945 as a teacher for manual and applied arts. From that time he worked in graphic design for several publications of Caracas and artistic director of an advertising. Between 1955 and 1956 he traveled to Paris and Barcelona to catch the color research. After his return to Caracas, riding a Study of Visual Arts dedicated to the graphic arts and industrial design, and continues his research on the phenomenology of color. For a while Cruz Diez was professor of Fine Arts, School of Communication at the Central University of Venezuela, and directed the Department of Kinetics Research of the National School of Fine Arts.
