Benedikt Höwedes (born 29 February 1988) is a German footballer who plays as a centre back for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. He made his debut for the Germany national team in May 2011.

On 9 March 2013, Höwedes extended his contract with Schalke 04, until 30 June 2017.

Höwedes was selected for the German squad for the World Cup 2014

On 6 June 2014, he scored his second goal for the Senior German National Team, in Mainz during a pre World Cup friendly, vs Armenia. Germany went on to win 6-1.
