Acinonyx Jubatus

Acinonyx Jubatus is the species name of Cheetah, also known as the fastest land animal. It is the only extant member of the genus "Acinonyx", which is Greek for "no-move-claw". This refers to the fact that Cheetah doesn't have retractable claws unlike the other big-cat species. The word "Jubatus" means "maned" or "crested" in Latin, a reference to the The crest down the center of the back found in cheetah cubs.
