8.24

Sometimes written as Q8.24 or fx8.24. A fixed-point sample size used as the canonical audio sample type for processing linear PCM audio in iOS, in lieu of 32-bit floating-point samples. In an 8.24 audio sample there are eight bits to the left of the radix point, forming the integer (or “magnitude") portion of the value, and 24 bits to the right, forming the fractional portion.
